A Reskilling Push to Close Some Huge Employment Gaps

Although there is a lot to like about the proverbial human excellence, it still doesn’t have anything more valuable to show than that unwavering commitment to improve a consistent pace. We say this because the commitment has already fetched the world some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is purposed around its skill-set, which was unprecedented enough to realize all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, a closer look should be able to reveal how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate centerpiece of every horizon. Cognizant has officially announced the launch of a brand-new training initiative called Synapse, which is designed to educate more than one million individuals on cutting-edge technology skills like generative artificial intelligence (AI). According to certain reports, the stated initiative will work in collaboration with governments, academic institutions, businesses, and other strategic partners. Talk about the move on a slightly deeper level, it is expected to leverage innovative and sponsored upskilling programs for the purpose of equipping more than 200,000 jobseekers with in-demand tech skills. Not just that, once they have completed the course, these people will also be given an assessment to gauge how well they have mastered the material, an assessment where high-scoring participants will be shortlisted for a specialized Cognizant “train-to-hire” program. There is a further possibility for them to bag a job interview with either Cognizant or one of its Synapse partners. Next up, the program will focus on working with universities, community colleges, and workforce development groups, to inform members on multiple levels. Aimed at entry-level individuals and mid-career professionals, this facet of Cognizant’s initiative will work alongside a new employer consortium to produce an outright “Talent Pipeline as a Service,” Apart from helping the workforce of tomorrow develop new skills, the initiative in question will also dedicate some focus towards upskilling the existing abilities of Cognizant’s employees. Such a pledge becomes all the more significant after you consider that it will be realized through the company’s award-winning learning and development platform.

“Our world is changing at an unprecedented pace, and the demand for creative, tech-savvy individuals is skyrocketing,” said Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant. “Through this sweeping reskilling endeavor, we are striving to equip one million individuals with the skills and capabilities they need to thrive in the digital economy. Cognizant’s Synapse initiative is not just about education; it’s about empowering people to shape their own destinies and creating employment pathways that meet the needs of tomorrow’s employers. “The traditional skilling model isn’t keeping pace with the evolving workforce —Synapse is designed to chart a new course for employees and employers to succeed.”

Cognizant’s latest push notably provides an interesting follow-up to one US Chamber of Commerce report, which revealed how US businesses alone have nearly three million positions they are unable to fill, a figure which it deems vulnerable to becoming only bigger, if current technological skill gaps continue to remain in place. Another report, this one from Forbes, contextualizes the importance of such a program by revealing a widespread belief among US executives that nearly half of the skills required to succeed in today’s workplace will not be relevant just two years from now.

But what makes Cognizant an ideal candidate to solve the stated conundrum? Well, the answer is rooted in the company’s efforts to work with tech organizations across the globe and invest in training opportunities for their workforce. So far, Cognizant has awarded $70 million to support 70 leading global organizations and non-profits committed to skilling. In a bid to build upon that very momentum, the company also recently expanded its partnership with Google Cloud, thus pledging robust training resources for tech talent development on Google Cloud and ensuring responsible use of AI across the board.
