Bridging the Human Resources Gap

Date:

There is a lot that human beings can do well, and yet there is little we do better than growing on a consistent basis. This tendency to improve under every possible situation has notably fetched us some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a major member of the stated group. The main reason why technology enjoys such an esteemed stature among people is largely based on its skill-set, a skill-set which realized all the possibilities that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look a little bit closer, it should become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real-world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate ingredient of our every initiative. Having such an ingenious piece running the entire show would expectantly scale up the human experience from every conceivable direction, but even after ushering us towards a significantly better life, technology will somehow keep on bringing the right goods to the table. The same has grown to become more and more evident in recent times, and truth be told, a new partnership involving Google and University of Texas should only make that trend bigger and better moving forward.

The University of Texas has officially roped in Google to provide the latter’s accredited certificates to its students. For someone who might be unaware of this program, Google Career Certificates is an initiative designed to equip people with job-ready skills in the fields of data analytics, e-commerce, digital marketing, IT Support, automation in python, project management, and user experience (UX) design. The program, interestingly enough, also packages a consortium of more than 150 employers, including   Deloitte, Target, Verizon, AT&T, Dell, and of course, Google itself, that are all committed to considering graduates for relevant entry-level roles. In case you need further recommendation, out of 100,000 US students who graduated from Google Career Certificates, 75% participants have reported positive impact under some capacity or the other. The various iterations of this impact range from new job to even promotion and a salary increment. Another thing worth noting here would be how, in most cases, these developments came within six months of completion.

But how will the program work in the stated collaboration? Well, going by the available details, the school systems are expected to embed Google certificates into undergraduate degree programs and co-curricular experiences. Furthermore, in order to bolster the incentives at work here, they will also attach a chance to earn university credit through these certificates.

“Pairing a bachelor’s degree with a Google certificate leads to graduates who are both broadly educated and specifically skilled — a winning combination for students and employers,” said UT System Chancellor, James B. Milliken. “With the Texas population expected to double by 2050 and Texas projected to have the highest net job growth of any state by 2030, UT institutions are proud to be leading efforts to meet our state’s workforce and industry demands while positioning our graduates for success and professional growth in the modern job market.”

Fair enough, by 2030, over 60% of jobs in Texas are projected to require a postsecondary credential, such as a degree or a certificate. Hence, given the stature and scale of Google, this partnership will have a huge role in bridging that gap.

“Google is proud to work with Texas universities and workforce development organizations to help more students and workers take advantage of the incredible job opportunities created by the state’s growing economy,” said Lisa Gevelber, Founder of Grow with Google
