Human beings tend to be good at gazillion different things, but at the same time, there is little we do better than growing on a consistent basis. This tendency to improve under every situation has notably allowed us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology emerging as a major member of the stated group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which realized all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we take a moment and dig a little deeper, it will quickly become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real-world setting. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and consequentially, kickstart a full-fledged tech revolution. This revolution will, of course, scale up the human experience in an a pretty sensational fashion, but even after securing such a monumental feat, technology will somehow keep on delivering the goods. The same has become more and more evident over the recent past, and assuming a newly-launched solution ends up making the desired impact, it will only turn that trend into much bigger of a deal moving forward.
Perforce Software, a provider of solutions to enterprise teams requiring productivity, visibility, and scale along the development lifecycle, has officially announced the launch of a real-time collaboration for Gliffy, its industry-leading technical diagramming solution, to optimize the productivity of joint working sessions and drive innovation. According to certain reports, the collaboration will happen within Atlassian Confluence Cloud. This particular fact could be significant, because with real-time diagram collaboration directly baked into Confluence, teams don’t need to use multiple external tools, remember additional logins, or open extra windows in order to immediately share ideas and insights. You can, as a diagram owner, just invite others to collaborate on one diagram, while retaining control over the level of access for each user. Beyond that, the technology also lets you follow one another’s activity during a working session and view all changes in real time. Such a focused setup makes it considerably easier for users to complete and update architecture diagrams, flowcharts, and process diagrams or capture ideas with a mind map or brainstorming template.
“Diagramming directly within Confluence has been an important benefit to teams that use Gliffy,” said Charlie Ealy, Senior Product Manager for Gliffy at Perforce Software. “Our team’s goal for real-time collaboration is to provide an added layer of functionality that helps teams minimize the need to manage multiple tools in order to work collaboratively.”
The development provides an interesting follow-up to a Gartner report, which digs into how “employees spend almost 10% of their time opening, closing, and switching between different technology applications” Another finding that enhances the move’s importance centers upon remote working, as going by the claims, “Up to 81% of employees who can work remotely or in a hybrid scenario will choose to do so” Such a reality calls for more intuitive tools, tools that are devoid of any unnecessary clutter and offer a certain value when facilitating communication across the board.
“When teams have the ability to both share ideas and build documentation with the same tool, they can maximize working sessions and reach their product, business, software, and IT goals faster,” said Dan Dodot, General Manager at Perforce Software. “We’re excited to enhance these use cases within Confluence and support our Atlassian customers with real-time collaboration features.”
