Pursing a Future of More Inclusive Employee Benefits

Date:

The human arsenal can boast a lot of valuable elements, and yet it has never possessed anything more significant than that tendency of ours to grow on a consistent basis. We say this because the stated tendency has fetched us some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is largely based on its skill-set, which was unprecedented enough to realize all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, a closer look should, in no time, reveal how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component was actually what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate centrepiece of every horizon. Now, having such an ingenious tool run the show did scale up the human experience from every conceivable direction, but even after reaching so far ahead, this prodigious concept called technology will somehow continue to deliver the right goods. The same has, if anything, only turned more evident in recent times, and truth be told, a newly-launched upgrade might just put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, more popularly known as MassMutual, has officially announced an expansion of its comprehensive suite of employee benefits, and it did so to reach upon a product that is more mindful about diverse situations and needs of employees, inclusive of all generations, genders and lifestyles. But what are some of those new aspects conceived by the company? Well, for starters, the upgrade literally quadruples the caregiver leave to eight weeks of paid time off per rolling 12-month period. This should provide some serious assistance to all the employees who are expected to take care of a loved one. Next up, we have the new well-being wallet, which is designed to reimburse employees up to $1,250 a year for eligible expenses that aid their welfare from a holistic standpoint. These expenses can include stuff like gym memberships, ski lift tickets, subscription-based meditation apps, text prep services, and a lot more. Seemingly an addition to MassMutual’s existing student debt/college savings program, the stated wallet is a major bid on the company’s part to support employees’ physical, emotional, and financial well-being. Hold on, there is more. The improved suite further brings you a dedicated, and notably expanded, set of mental health solutions that cover features, such as faster access to high-quality providers across the care and service spectrum for employees and members of their households. In case you were wondering, this access can be realized at no cost whatsoever.

“We look at our suite of benefits as an opportunity to build a culture that people want to be part of. A culture that honors its legacy while remaining progressive to meet the evolving needs of its employees,” said Sue Cicco, head of HR and Employee Experience at MassMutual. “We look for employees who thrive in a culture based on trust and accountability. Where principles replace rules. Where diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives are valued. And where there is a shared passion for greater equity and opportunity for all.”

Fair enough, in order to achieve that diversity and equity, MassMutual’s upgraded product also lets you call upon a dedicated and diverse team of care coordinators, who offer one-on-one, specialized health advocacy and navigation support. This support is tailored specifically around Black/African American and LGBTQ+ employees enrolled in a MassMutual medical plan.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we have witnessed MassMutual taking such a big step to improve employee welfare. During Covid 19 pandemic, the company saw the nationwide lockdown as an opportunity to adopt a model that offered greater balance between personal flexibility and in-person teamwork. Another powerful move MassMutual made was to rename “occasional sick days” to “take care days”, with the decision focused on showcasing more empathy towards employees.

Founded way back in 1851, MassMutual is understandably a trusted name around the insurance and benefits space. With so much experience, the company, at the moment, is able to offer a wide range of services, including protection, accumulation, wealth management, retirement products, and more.
