The human arsenal might be deeper than anything you can ever imagine, but it still hasn’t possessed an element more significant than that desire of growing on a consistent basis. We can claim what we did because the stated desire has already brought the world some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is based on its skill-set, which realized all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, a closer look should be able to reveal how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate centerpiece of every horizon. Now, having such a powerful tool run the show did scale up our experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after reaching so far ahead, this prodigious concept called technology will somehow keep on delivering the goods. The same has turned more and more evident over the recent past, and assuming a new HRM-themed development ends up with the desired impact, it will only put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.
The Competency-Based Education Network (C-BEN) and Aspire Ability Inc, in their bid to bolster collaboration with Novajo community, have officially launched a new Navajo Nation Talent Marketplace, a unique ecosystem of Navajo job seekers, employers, and education providers. Marking the first ever central repository of all jobs available on the reservation both in-person and remotely, the stated marketplace will notably eliminate our age-old resume / job-description model. Instead, it will try and find synergy between the candidate’s skills and what is actually required to carry out a particular job. Talk about laying the job requirements, employers here, unlike anything we have ever seen before, will be asked to post job competency maps detailing requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). The purpose of these maps is to establish a summary on how well the desired skills match with what’s on the table, and if the job seeker happens to lack some skills, they’ll be provided a wholly personalized upskilling plan, listing the specific KSAs they need.
“Having an online, publicly available resource linking jobs and education programs will match people to the full range of opportunities across the reservation,” said Moroni Benally, a member of the Navajo Nation and Head of Public Policy and Partnerships at Aspire Ability. “It’s a critical step in our nation’s long-term efforts to offer all Navajo—from our 3,500 yearly high school graduates to those who moved away—access to credentials that tie to well paid jobs within the nation.”
In order to execute the whole project effectively, C-BEN will work with Navajo Technical University, Diné College and other local education providers for the purpose of putting-together competency-based programs that align with the high-demand skills sought by employers. Another thing the platform will do to achieve a similar objective is that it will share job posting data with the colleges and universities.
“My administration looks forward to the day when all Navajos who are seeking employment can find a thriving wage job here at home,” said Buu Nygren, Navajo Nation’s President. “The Navajo Nation Talent Marketplace – where employers join forces with the tribal colleges to serve job seekers – is the first step in building an economy that supports living in hózhóó now and in the future.”
In case you aren’t quite aware, the Novajo Nation is one of the largest federally-recognized Native American tribes in North America, covering 27,000 square miles of territory in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Considering a sizeable 36% of Novajo households live below the federal poverty line, the need for more employment is currently at an all-time high, sparking a pattern of migration and brain drain across the board. Novajo Nation, along with C-BEN and Aspire Ability Inc, will hope to shake things up through this new job marketplace.
