Helping Young Talent Understand and Fully Utilize the Power of AI

Date:

One can argue to no end about the best trait a human being can possess, but the only right answer to that will be our trait of improving at a consistent pace. We say this because the stated factor has already fetched the world some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is purposed around its skill-set, which was unprecedented enough to realize all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, a closer look should be able to reveal how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate centerpiece of every horizon. Now, having such a powerful tool run the show did expand our experience in many different directions, but even after reaching so far ahead, this prodigious concept called technology will somehow keep on delivering the right goods. The same has grown to become a lot more evident in recent times, and assuming one new HRM-themed development pans out just like we envision, it will only propel that trend towards greater heights over the near future and beyond.

Upwork, the world’s work marketplace, has officially launched a new set of AI apps, packaged together with educational content, to help independent talent on Upwork harness the power of generative AI and supercharge their productivity. According to certain reports, a lot of this effort will be realized through strategic collaborations with leading tech organizations like Adobe, Amazon, ClickUp, and Miro. As for the educational content, there, too, Upwork has enlisted the assistance of industry leaders like Coursera, Jasper and Udemy. Talk about the proposition on a more granular level, it begins from Adobe’s comprehensive tools for creativity. Here, the users will be provided discounts on Creative Cloud All Apps and Photoshop subscriptions, which include innovations like Generative Fill powered by Adobe Firefly, the company’s proprietary assortment of creative generative AI models. Apart from that, you can also expect meaningful price reductions on Lightroom subscriptions. Having covered the creativity bit, it’s time for us to drum up the productivity question, and that will be answered by ClickUp. You see, the partnership with Upwork will ensure that the talent on latter’s platform can access a significantly better price on ClickUp AI, which so happens to be a productivity tool boasting its primary utility across operations like marketing, engineering, and project management. Users can also, as a complimentary offering, enjoy the perks of ClickUp Unlimited plan. Then, we have the prospect of software development. Talent that belongs to software development space is set to receive an AI-based coding companion called Amazon CodeWhisperer, a companion who will look to simplify the entire coding process and make it more accessible, especially for beginners. Just like how you will be able to work alongside an AI companion to enhance those coding efforts, you will also have a free trial for Miro Business Plan, as well as its by-product in Miro Assist, an AI partner that uses your board content to help you build the next big thing with a prompt, a chat, or a simple click.

“Independent professionals across our marketplace – from top-tier AI engineers and model trainers to skilled creatives and marketers – are excited and eager to use the latest generative AI tools to do their most productive work,” said Dave Bottoms, general manager and VP of product for the Upwork Marketplace. “The apps and resources we’re making available today will assist even the most skilled professionals on our platform to better leverage AI to enhance workflows, effortlessly automate tasks, and complete projects with increased efficiency.”

While it’s certainly great to have all the stated AI tools at your disposal, it won’t amount to anything, if you are clueless over how to make the most of them. To make sure it doesn’t happen, Upwork has introduced a full-fledged AI Education Library, where for starters, you will have an Education Marketplace that offers AI skills-based courses from trusted providers like Coursera, Jasper, and Udemy. Next up, there is a dedicated generative AI Learning Path, which is essentially a self-paced course that covers the basics of generative AI and ways young talent can use the technology to elevate their work output. Beyond the comprehensive courses, Upwork also brings to the fore short and digestible learning content on specialized AI topics like building an AI chatbot created by Top-Rated freelancers on Upwork.

“Harnessing the power of generative AI is the key to staying competitive and delivering exceptional results in today’s dynamic work landscape,” said Chisom Okwulehie, a senior architectural designer on Upwork. “Upwork is meeting the moment and providing the latest tools and resources that I need to enhance my workflows, boost productivity, and work with incredible speed and efficiency.”

Upwork’s bid to initiate such a massive AI effort, although somewhat prompted by the wider trend, was also inspired by a recent research from its own Upwork Research Institute. Going by the available details, the research revealed that nearly 76% of freelancers have high confidence in their ability to learn new AI tools, thus hinting towards a phase which is ripe to witness, so far, the biggest uptick in AI footprint.

Hold on, we aren’t done yet, as Upwork has also decided to open a waitlist for access to Upwork Chat Pro, a new app powered by GPT-4, OpenAI’s most advanced large language model. In case you didn’t know, the app in question was developed  to help independent professionals start and complete their work more quickly and effectively, leveraging unique insights from Upwork about independent professionals to conceive here the most relevant responses and context-rich recommendations.

Founded in 1999, Upwork’s stature as a leader today can be validated by the fact that its talent community earned over $3.8 billion in 2022 alone across more than 10,000 skills. These skills concerned categories like website & app development, creative & design, customer support, finance & accounting, consulting, operations, and more.
