Only once you look into the human arsenal that you realize its vastness, but to be completely honest, this should also reveal that it doesn’t have a thing more valuable than our ability to grow on a consistent basis. We can say what we did because the stated ability has already fetched the world some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is purposed around its skill-set, which was unprecedented enough to realize all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, a closer look should be able to reveal how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate centerpiece of every horizon. Now, having such a powerful tool run the show did expand our experience in many different directions, but even after reaching so far ahead, this prodigious concept called technology will somehow keep on delivering the right goods. The same has grown to become a lot more evident in recent times, and assuming one new HRM-themed development pans out just like we envision, it will only propel that trend towards greater heights over the near future and beyond.
Workday Inc., leader in enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources, has officially announced the introduction of new enhancements to its Workday Extend solution; enhancements that are meant to improve the developer experience, drive IT efficiency, and encourage innovation. Set to be unveiled during Workday Rising, the company’s annual customer conference, the whole development will be headlined by the launch of Workday AI Gateway, which is a combination of advanced developer technologies developed using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Not just that, the company is also launching a no-code/low-code toolset. Coming back to the AI Gateway first, though, how will it deliver on its promised value proposition? Well, for starters, it will allow us to perform a comprehensive skills analysis. Leveraging Workday Skills Cloud to do so, the solution helps developers compare and contrast to enable them in terms of quickly extracting relevant skills from text. This should make it possible for users to continue growing internal skills and developer capabilities. Next up, we must acknowledge the product’s sentiment analysis capabilities that facilitate the process of analyzing digital text so to effectively determine if the message’s emotional tone is positive, neutral, or negative. Moving on, AI Gateway also comes decked up with a feature where it is able to apply machine learning technology and provide a time series forecaster which can make for us both seasonal and non-seasonal predictions. Here, the API at work accepts a list of historical values, along with the start date of the historical series, and a time horizon related to the number of future forecasted intervals, before extending predictions for future dates.
Hold on, we aren’t quite done. To further accelerate the app innovation process, Workday plans on supporting several more AWS AI services natively in Workday Extend. The services likely hitting the deck include Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Textract, and Amazon Translate. Once they do so, they will offer us deeper insight within text, covering key phrases, images, and videos across various different languages and formats.
“At Sun Life, we believe technology plays an integral role in supporting our mission to drive client, business, and employee success,” said Eric Chung, director of HR systems management at Sun Life. “With Workday Extend, our developers can build and maintain our own apps in HR, enabling us to support important business needs quickly. And now with Workday AI and ML services, we will further grow our toolbox of capabilities to build new apps faster and with less risk because they’re on the Workday platform.”
As for how Workday will hold up its no code/low code bit of the bargain, it will integrate new capabilities to its App Builder, a no-code/low-code web-based developer toolset. The capabilities include seamless code generation from data, a process which will let developers generate code from a Workday business object using a visual experience. Another detail worth a mention here is rooted in the toolset’s new Page Builder, a planned no-code visual experience that will help developers build full apps through a few mere clicks. Going by the available details, the entire effort will also bring the prospect of a new human-machine teaming capability called Developer Copilot. The stated solution will bear the responsibility to use generative AI and support the development lifecycle. Talk about how it will actionably do the same, directly embedded into Workday’s new App Builder, Developer Copilot is going to deliver text-to-code generation capabilities for the purpose of improving developer productivity. Not just that, it will also transform natural language into app code and enhance customer time-to-value.
Given all the new features, Workday will simplify the picture by dividing its Workday Extend solution into two segments i.e. Workday Extend Essentials and Workday Extend Professional. Notably, the new AI Gateway will only be available to Workday Extend Professional users, who can start accessing it in the first half of 2024. The roll out for Developer Copilot is to be realized in the next 6-12 months, whereas Page Builder facility will be made available in 2024. However, that being said, the code generation from data capability for App Builder is already available as a part of Workday Extend.
“Workday Extend is the essential platform enabling customers and partners to build apps that support their unique finance and people needs,” said Matt Grippo, general manager of cloud platform at Workday. “Our new Workday AI Gateway and native AWS integration opens the door to a world of new possibilities that allow developers to move fast, accelerate innovation, and deliver deep business value securely and responsibly at scale.”
